ok, I got a new fishing partner recently since my old one began to not have money for tourneys any more, and immedietly he questions why I use 7ft rods, and tells me that 6ft rods are the best and nothing beats them, all my rods are st croix avids or premiers, and range from 6'6" to 7' rods, casting and spinning, while he uses G Loomis GL2, IMX, and GLX all 6' rods. I mainly fish weeds which is why I like a 7ft M action rod for hauling bass out of weeds, or if im frog fishing,which helps aid me in getting that fish. SO, I ask you, what would the advantages of having a 6' rod for bass fishing over having a 7' rod?
The only true advantage that a 6' rod has over a 7' one is the ability to be used in tight cover. 7' rods have better leverage over fish and can cast much farther than it's 6' counterpart. Stick with what you like, and he can stick with what he likes.
