Original "Noris" Corona-Lux 9.5ft Fly Rod?
My brother has a fly rod that is 9.5 ft bamboo with aluminum reel holder. This was a family heirloom passed down from his Grandfather. It was said to possibly be from Canada. Any help to estimate the value of this rod, or any information about it would be helpful.
Thanks.
Here is a link to a website that tells the history of Noris Flyrods. Toward the bottom of the article it mentions that a Noris bamboo rod that sold for $60 in the late 1800's would be worth about $1200 in 2007 dollars. Check it out- http://fishinghistory.blogspot.com/2008/01/thaddeus-norris-profile-of-rodmaker_30.html
Honestly, how much it's worth depends on the condition, whether you have a case and the original supply's it came with.
THEN you have to find a buyer or collector to buy it.
Vintage tackle was very popular in the late 80's/early 90's, but, the market was flooded shortly thereafter, causing prices to plummet. Go to any Antique Store and you'll see lures with outrageous prices attached- but notice- they are still sitting in the store waiting to be bought......
In any regard, you may have something VERY special. Contact a reputable Antique dealer and begin asking Q's. $1200 PLUS would be nice to stick in your pocket.
Hope this helps?
