I will be in Jamaica for a few weeks and wanted to do some fishing from piers, rocks and surf. I have fished all my life for freshwater walleye, bass, pike, and so on.
Ocean fishing is something I am ignorant of and could use some tips for equipment, tactics, lures, and baits. Any Info would be great or any cool links.

Okuma makes a good line of spinning reels that are attractively priced. I would stay away from conventional reels because of possible birds nest when casting. A 7' to 8', medium to heavy action, 2 piece rod would be a good all purpose rod for pier, rocks, and surf. I would ask the locals what the best baits and lures would be for the species of fish around at that time. Saltwater fish migrate so what might be hot 1 week might not be hot the next.
