What should i use to catch some northern pike on a small lake.?
We have a small very weedy lake which is loaded with tons of blue gill, sun fish, bass, cat fish, etc. Everyone, except my one friend (who has caught one), i have talked to that fishes there say there are no pike in it but i know for a fact there are, i have seen many. What should i use to catch one and how should i?
You can catch pike with almost anything.
Topwater lures will work wonders, topwater lures like the mouse, frog, any popper which those mouse and frog patterns really are anyways they just cause disturbance on the top of the water, some poppers are made to push water to make maximum disturbance to the water. You can also use spinners, the spinners with bucktail or the regular ones, those spinnerbait and buzzbait used by bass fisherman work. Using those diving hooks that look like fish, there is a number of those on the market and people swear by the Rapala ones. Fly fisherman use flies that are long streamers, streamer that look like fish or a leech, they use topwater flies like those mouse and frogs as well as poppers that push water. Another way is you can use herring suspended under a bobber.
There is really a number of ways to get pike and these are just some things people use to catch pike.
Also use ones that have weed guards it will help a lot, because pike love the weedy areas to ambush their prey.
