Bearings Spinning Reel

i just received a penn captive 4000 spinning reel for my b-day does anyone know if they are any good?
i won't be using it much because i have a shimano reel that i like to use. i was just wondering if it is any good because it looks like they don't make it any more. there is a cv2 4000 with 8 ball bearings on the penn website but this one just has cv 4000 and has 11 ball bearings. found the same thing on bass pro shop and cabelas website.
Not to burst your bubble, but the reel has bad reviews on both main fishing tackle suppliers, Bass Pro Shops & Cabelas. I consider any reel with a lot of reviews being rated under a 4 a bad reel (if it's a higher priced one). Your Penn Captiva (I hope you meant Captiva) is rated a 3.0 on Cabela's and I believe a 3.6 on Bass Pro Shops.
A $60 reel with 11 ball bearings doesn't sound too great. That many ball bearings in a $60 reel isn't going to be sufficient. Heck, both the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C3 ($85) and the Shimano Citica 200E ($120) have only 3 ball bearings. It tells you that Penn filled your reel with tons of shitty ball bearings.
I think my $30 Zebco can out fish that reel. Penn has really gone down hill on some of their reels. Their metal spinfisher's are good for the money, but anything lower priced than that are normally junk. Sometimes you'll find a decent reel that will do well for you.
I'd still fish with it, but not use it as your main reel.
