would a abu garcia orra sx baitcasting reel 7 ball bearings cast further than a gander mountain spinning reel 9 ball bearings cast further?
on rods of similar quality and identical action/tip, with the same line and lure, and a fisherman who's just as competent with one as the other, my money's on the baitcaster. Don't know about the orra sx (for the price it had better be a pretty darn high quality reel), but I have a couple daiwa's that cast lightweight lures as well as or better than my spinning reels. Ball bearing count is meaningless in casting with a spinning reel, since the spool doesn't spin during the cast. Casting distance has more to do with the spool design (material, depth, shape of the lip) and lay pattern -- spool speed in & out relative to bail speed.
