Saltwater fish tank cycling (repost)?
i have been cycling a 55 gallon saltwater fishtank for 3 weeks and the nitrite is at 1.0 the nitrate is between 10 and 20 and the ammonia is 8.0 is this normal for cycling and if so does anyone know how much longer itll take? I have 10 saltwater feeder fish in there right now and an eheim classic canister filter for 55 gallon tanks
Those numbers are normal for cycling. Do you have live rock? It really helps speed up cycling and is a great natural filter. I cycled my 110 gallon tank for about four weeks. My fish store sold me about 15 damsels because they help the cycling process. They are hardy enough to handle the different water and they help the tank cycle by adding biological waste. After my 4 weeks were up and my water tested good he bought them back from me and I added my other fish. Just wait it out and keep testing you water. Good luck!
