What is the best way to cook Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs?

We have a big (~12 gallon) steamer pot with a basket? How much water should I put in it to cook a full pot/basket of crabs? I am thinking I should drop the carbs into the basket already in the pot with water preheated (boiling), then cook for ~12 minutes, then pull the entire basket out. Also follow directions on Old Bay can for how much spice to add to the water.

Hi _ I'm from New Zealand ... and if you have Chesapkeake Bay seasoning from Penzeys ... that would be my pick. Old Bay is ok I guess
