Deluxe Fish Pen
Please, what breed of hamster should i get?
I have a ten gallon fish tank and I bought a Toob-A-Top Kit Deluxe which is a lid with two spaces for tubes: One end is a house/look-out place and on the other side a pipe twisting to the house.
It came with a normal sized wheel.
I thought syrians would be nice but just read they are really big and need rat-sized wheels, so then my tank would be really filled up!
I would let my hamser have time outside it's cage, I saw this play pen you can buy so my hamster could play outside SUPERVISED and eat the grass (it has to chemicals).
The pet shop is getting new hamsters next week so I don;t know all the breeds, but what should I get? Can you tell me the size and if they need room mates? Thanks!
P.S. In the future I might purchase either a bigger tank or another tan gal attached with tubes from the forst to the second, but this idea is not certain.
Oh, I also have two plastic dishes which also take up some space.

Syrian - Twice as big, less likely to bite then most dwarf species, form stronger bonds with humans. A lot of mutations have occured and therefor there are a lot of colour types,fur types and markings.
Roborovksi - Smallest of all hamsters, and also the fastest by far, don't enjoy being handled, not many differnet colours. Very very entertaining to watch if they have enough running space.
Chinese - Apparently the least cutest,rat like, longest dwarf but not fattest, don't bite as much as Russians. Cling to fingers which is cute. A few colours, but not many.
Russians (Winter White,Campbells) - My favourite, will normally always bite if you put hand in cage, but rarely bite once out of the cage. Campbells have a lot of colours. Very appealing and cute.
All dwarfs need a room mate really (same sex,because they mate very rapidly,and you don't want brothers and sisters mating, especially those from stores, and Syrians always live alone.
