Daisy Chaining an existing power outlet?
I want to add an outlet to the top portion of my apartment wall, just above the open crown molding. I'd like to daisy chain the existing outlet to the new outlet with a switch in a direct line on the wall (which should help with fishing in the wall too)
Is the wiring as easy as adding a hot wire from one of the hot outlet terminals (maybe a rear connection) and connecting it through the switch to the new outlet, then making a direct connection with the grounding and neutral terminals?
Thinking of using a GFCI outlet just to be extra safe.
A gfci isn't necessary unless this is in a "wet" location. (outdoors, garage, kitchen, bathroom, near wet bar, etc)
You have a good idea on how to accomplish the task. I have added a link to a very specific diagram that may help to clarify it.
