English Homework help. Run-on and fragments?
The captain's fish story went the rounds in Brooklyn as fast as the captain could spread it about the details there could be no argument. Because, after all, there was the fish to be seenby anyone who wanted to see it,authorities at the American Museum of Natural History informed Captain Atkins that his monster was unknown by various names. The "angler fish" or the "goose fish" or the "fishing frog" fish of this kind usually do not swim but walk on the floor of the ocean. Waving their antennae to lure other fish Captain Atkins accepted this information, showing no interest in going to the bottom to get proof.
I have about 10 of these and this one is confussing me.
Any help is really apreicated. Thanks
Try reading it out loud. You'll notice where there are natural breaks in the thoughts. You'll hear the run ons easily. When you get to the end of a fragment (a piece of a sentence) you'll say, "And then..." or "What about it?" I've edited this paragraph, but let the wording as it. I hope that's what you need. Read it out loud both ways, and I'm sure you'll hear the differences.
