Gold Reel Line

Penn slammer, penn spinfisher, or daiwa black gold?
I have been looking at spinning reels for a while for pier/jetty and some surf fishing on north padre island in south Texas. I'm have narrowed it down to these three. i will be targeting bull reds, jacks, black drum, snook. I am looking to get the penn 560 slammer, penn 650 spinfisher or the daiwa black gold 20 or 30. Please help if you know anything about these reels. I will be using braid line.
I've owned 2 of the 3 reels you've mentioned- the Daiwa BG20 and the Penn SSM 650.
Although I don't own the Slammer I've heard great things about it from friends and online.
Here are my views on the BG and Spinfisher:
Technically they are both "the same" reel. They both have tremendous quality, durability and if properly cared for could easily last a lifetime or 2. Both are "old" enough that finding replacement parts is simple and MOST reel shops will work on these without batting an eye.
However, each has "slight" issues.
The Daiwa BG does not have infinite anti-reverse, (or at least mine doesn't). Does that bother me?
NO!
Having a 40 point anti-reverse on a Surf/Pier reel is fine for me. Yes, there is a slight bit of "back-play" but not enough to bother me. I prefer durability & quality construction over slight back-play when looking at a Surf/Jetty/Pier reel......(but YOU may consider it an issue.)
Maybe the newer BG's DO have infinite Anti-reverse? I don't know. I've owned my BG20 for over 15 years and it works just like the day I first purchased it!
Other than replacing the drag washers once, I've never had a problem with my BG. And I tend to be "hard" on my reels because I fish quite a bit.
I've had braid and mono on this with no issues. For the price, you could not find a better reel than the BG.
The Penn SSm has all of the qualities of the BG, (and has the bonus of Infinite Anti-reverse), but one major drawback, (for me), was the spool wobble!
I owned this reel, (SSM), for many years and it worked fine, but I eventually sold it, (when I moved to MN) because the spool wobble bugged me to DEATH! (lol)
When you go to purchase one of the 3 reels you've mentioned notice the horrible spool wobble on the SSM. I thought I could "live with it" when I initially purchased the reel but found out the hard way that "smooth" is important to me! I always ended up fishing with the BG! (lol)
From what I understand, (from fishing friends and online info), the Slammer is kinda a cross between the SSM and the BG. It has all the good attributes of the SSm/BG and NO spool wobble. The only drawback of the Slammer would be (for me) the price tag.
But, if I were in a market to purchase a new Surf/Pier/Jetty reel I'd probably choose the Slammer.
Here is the BPS site where you can read other reviews on all three:
