What kind of reel would go well with a 7'6" graphite trigger rod with a recommended line weight between?
2lb to 6lb test lines?!
I ran into a nice looking noodle rod at a tackle shop tonight. As soon as I picked it up, I noticed something doesn't look right. Upon closer examination, I saw those tiny line guides and that unique baitcasting rod handle. Then I noticed the rod was VERY limp for a baitcasting rod. When I looked at the recommended lure weight range, I noticed that odd ball was an ultra-light trigger rod with a recommended line weight between 2lb to 6lb test lines! It was a very nice handling rod and it was very light in weight. I got a sudden urge to purchase that rod on the spot but I went home empty handed instead. Other than tiny, very light weight spincasting reels, I couldn't think of any baitcasting reel that will go well with that particular rod. Any recommendations?
Please do not recommend any spincasting reels.
that is rather limp for a bait caster. very light line. the only thing that comes to mind is a steelhead rod but they are usually a bit longer.
l might suggest a shimano "core" 50, filled with 6lb.
to each his own, but personally, l don't feel comfortable with anything less than 6 on a BC.
l have 6lb on my daiwa pixy but have only a 6' rod that is light enough for it. l would like to find a 6 1/2 or 7 footer for it... but not a noodle.
