they say to fish it around weedy areas, but when i see videos of people using it, the water that they're fishing at seems like there is no weed around. maybe the weed are a little under water? so my main question is, does it work around weedy water AND clear open water.
When fishing spooks its easy to look at the lure and say "hey its not weedless". Weeds half to one foot under the water are perfect. I fish it all the time and it produces some fat fish. Run the bait over the weeds with a constant walk the dog a few times, if no hits slow it to a jerk jerk jerk pause and repeat. If your fishing the outside edge of weeds use a stiffer pop on the rod with the pause method. Doing this makes the lure walk the dog as usual but it adds a bit of a splash like a pop-r and calls the fish out from the weeds better. Spooks work great in open water too. Ive caught bass in late summer chasing shad in 10 foot of water with it. Anywhere bass are schooling in open water from 2 to 10 feet it will work. Just look for little signs like minnows breaking the surface from a chasing bass.
