Jointed Fishing Lure

Fishing lure concept?
I am new to lure making so I thought I'd start small. I was lucky enough one day while bass fishing to catch a large 1.5 lb shell-cracker, popularly the hardest fighting fish for its size in the world (which I agree with). Now I loved how it fought just as hard as a bass twice the size and came up with a lure that would be great for them. As you can tell from it's name, the shell-cracker cracks shells, such as snails and mussels. Originally I was going to make a snail lure, but then I came up with a GREAT idea. I would make a mussel lure that would hav two parts: top and bottom. The top part would float at the joint and with a jerk of the rod it would close and make a "clack" sound. There will also be a hole in it for attractant. So, what do you think?
I think it is a GREAT idea that I wish I had thought of first.
A couple of things to consider...
1) Where would you put the hook? Would you make it part of the top and bottom shell halves (on the outside) or between the shell halves? If you put it on the outside of the shell halves, then you will have to look out for snagging it.
2) What material would you make the shell halves out of? I am not sure how much force would be required to get them to make the clacking sound you are trying to mimic - I imagine it would be a fair amount- and so you will need something light, durable and of the right density to make the desired sound.
These are just some thoughts I had about what challenges you might be facing in pursuing this great idea.
Good luck and let me know how I can buy a few when you are done!
