Going up to Alaska next weekend to fish for coho salmon. Im used to fishing for walleye and rainbows. Dont have a clue how to catch a coho. Whats an effective lure for them? what kind of water can I expect to find them? shallow/deep? Is 25lb test a good choice or should I use 20lb? any help is greatly appreciated since I really wanna outfish all my buddies

I use two peach colored corkies size 12 I believe, the small ones about the size of a pea, above a size 1 Gami hook and drift fish for them. As far as mainline size, I prefer super braid in 60 lb test. It has the diameter of 17 lb mono, but is so much more sensitive. I usually run 17lb P-Line leader and always use a sliding weight.
If you are looking for a cast and retrieve type lure, most guys use #5 Blue Fox spinners or Wiggle Wart Plugs.
