I have been using a red and silver rattler-trap in a nice weedy area to fish for Northern but all I have been getting are small muskie. Are there and preferences that Northern have as opposed to Muskie? I want the Northern to keep because I like the meat because obviously I'm not going to keep a muskie. Just wondering if there was anything I can do to snag Northerns as opposed to muskies.

Northern Pike and Muskies are really so much alike, they both feed together and eat the same fish bait and lures, i think useing brighter colored lures along with useing smaller lures for pike, try useing spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, a jig with a white twister tail on it, and johnson silver spoons tipped with a white twister tail on it maybe 3 or 4 inches, both of these fish feed by sight and they are really good fighters.
