how to cast with the daiwa TD luna 300?
usually in any baitcaster one can see a lever that one sets before a cast(like in the penn international 965). but in the daiwa TD luna 300 i see no such lever. since i am planning to purchase this reel i would like to know its casting mechanism. and if any of the users have this reel i would like their opinion of this reel, on the weight of the lure it can cast, how well does it handle a fish, how one sets cast control etc.
To cast the reel you depress the thumbar. It is not like a Penn International reel. It's mechanism is more like you would find on a bass reel. You can use 1/4oz lures without problem. The drag washers are very adequate for fresh and saltwater fishing. Adjustment for Centriflex equipped reels is found inside the reel, on the end of the spool. To adjust, grasp the spool and rotate the blue colored Centriflex ring clockwise for greater braking action, or counter-clockwise to decrease braking action. As with Magforce, it is recommended you start at a maximum setting until you get the feel of he reel, gradually decreasing the setting until you reach a point that best suits your skill level.
