can i use some of the water from my established tropical aquarium to cycle my new koi pond?
i used the same method to establish my saltwater aquarium, if adding salt wont kill the good bacteria, then i dont think morphing them into a cold water koi pond will kill them either.
i just built this pond, havent added the water yet but i dont want to go through a few hundred days of cycling.
if i could do this, then how should i do this?
this is my first coldwater pond.
plus what else should i do to help establish my pond and how soon can i add fish?
can someone walk me thorough this?
im actually trying to find an alternative to buying the bacteria, its too expensive for a gallon of germs!

im taking the media out of my freshwater tank, not the saltwater one
They sell pond bacteria and the garden centers....stinks to high heaven, but its there, and works well
English Gardens or a store like that. But no I have never tried to introduce bact from my tropical aq to the pond.

Addit: Do you have any friends with ponds...you could go over with a 5 gallon bucket and get some bact from their pond?
