For anyone who has used these reels :Shimano Citica, BPS Johnny Morris Signature, or a BPS Pro Qualifier.?
I'm wondering which to buy. So, which is the best overall deal. Right now the JM Signature Series reels are on sale for $100. The Pro Qualifier is also on sale for $90. The Shimano Citica is $120. For anyone who has used these reels, could you please tell me which would be the best overall deal. I'm planning to pair the reel with a 7'MH BPS Pro Qualifier XPS rod mostly for throwing soft plastics and jigs.
I have a 7'6" medium heavy Bass Pro Shops XPS Extreme rod that I use for tossing soft plastics. It's a great rod. I'm not sure about the Pro Qualifier models, though. I think they're good rods also.
A long time ago, when they first came out, the Citica was a step below the Curado. Nowadays, the two reels are totally different. I don't understand the price drop on either the Johnny Morris or Pro Qualifier reels. Like Enuff, I hope they haven't dropped in quality.
I would take take the 3 reels, put them in a line next to each other, choose between the 2 lesser expensive ones, flip a coin for either, y'know Heads or Tails, whichever you choose of the 2, take the next one and sit it next to the one that just won the coin toss and do it again. The one that wins that round, you purchase. Hey, don't look at me funny... I'm just giving you an idea.
