Quantum Code Baitcast

How do I get the maximum casting distance out of my baitcast reel?
I recently bought a quantum code red reel. It was around 100$. It seems to not go as far as it should. I'm using spiderwire. 30lb test I think. I mostly catch crappie and bass. But I fish for whatever bites. What should I do to get the maximum casting distance?
a lot of things can make your reel cast better. a thorough cleansing/greasing/oiling is always great. new reels usually come with too much grease packed or too little oil, etc and can get much more casting distance and better performance after being sent to a reel mechanic for a yearly cleaning.
your brakes and tension knob definitely have an effect on your reels casting (you should obviously know this). do you know how to properly set the brakes and tension knob on a baitcasting reel? your brakes help slow down the spool during the beginning or end of the cast (depending on whether you have centrifugal or magnetic brakes, or dual brakes which slow down at both) so your spool will not go faster than the line coming off of it. the brakes should be set according to your baitcasting experience. start with them tight and gradually loosen them up (you'll gain more distance when they're loose, but lose anti-backlash control). after a while you'll be able to cast when no or almost no brakes on. oh and the brakes are located on the left side of your reel (if it's a right handed reel). or vice verse if left handed reel.
the tension knob under the handle should be turned so that your bait slowly falls to the floor when you push the thumb-bar. if it's too fast you'll get a lot of backlash. if it's too slow you won't get a lot of casting distance.
another thing, make sure the bait you are using is suitable to cast with your reel. nothing under 1/4oz should be cast with your reel (not enough distance with light lures). baitcasting reels are not suited for fishing a bobber & worm, they're normally used for larger lures for bass and other larger fish. you may not get adequate distance with a bobber & worm or other lighter live baits. spinning reels are best for that.
oh oh, and longer the rod the better. a 7' rod will cast farther than a 6' rod and so on. just don't get something so long that it's clumsy to cast and gets in the way. 6' 6" or 7' is usually great.
