I fish inland lakes, with moderate success but I'd like to expand my arsenal. So far I have tried smithwick's rattlin' rogue, five of diamonds and other lures, but not much luck. I got a lot last year on crawler harnesses but nothing really big. Incidentally, I only catch and release.
I personally use spinner baits and jerk baits with great success. Find bays that hold good weeds and throw CHARTREUSE / ORANGE Spinner baits. (Anything bright). In the early season, i use a single blade colorado blade that i can reel in fairly quickly.
As well, you want large jerk baits that have eratic actions. I usually will fish just outside of the weedy bays to ensure there is no weed fowl ups in my retrieves. This method has constantly produced pike throughout the season.
