how to tighten roller rockers on ford 302?
okay so a buddy of mine that went to uti idk if that matters but thought it might mean something told me to just get a torqe wrench and tighten 20 foot pounds to each rocker and not to worry about the vavlves being up or down cause it doesnt matter i was wondering if this is the best way or if there is another better way. please help because there is a tick and i was told by 3 mechanics it was a roller rocker and i was also told that if it isnt the roller it could be the push rod please just let me in on some info about this im kinda new to all this

You didn't specify if your roller rockers are pedestal-mounted or stud-mounted. You also didn't specify if the 302 is utilizing a hydraulic roller camshaft, hydraulic camshaft, or a flat tappet camshaft. Pedestal-mounted roller rockers you can just tighten down to spec. Stud-mounted rockers need to have their lash checked while tightening and rechecked after a hot run of the engine. What year block is it and what is it going into?
