Which rod should i get for fly fishing?
Ive been angling a spinner for years now and want to get into fly fishing. I live in Washington and was looking for a rod and reel combo to catch bass, trout, and occasionally pinks and steelies. I was looking into the Redington RS4 outfit, but was unsure what size tippet to get (1x or 5x) and what size reel to get with the combo. I am new to flyfishing and was wondering how I should go about purchasing my combo and what works best. Any answers help. thanks.
For those fish you can use an 8 weight or even a 7 weight fly rod for a reel make sure it has a disc drag steelhead can run even a few pinks can be feisty at times and those clicker fly reels will not last to that.
As far as tippet size i would ask at the sports store you are looking at those fly rods most will know i don't know because i am not where you are at so i don't know how big those fish are and how hard they fight.
And i am pretty sure most places have fly shops that will answer questions for new people give that a try many in fly shops workers or customers are always glad to open their mouth to help on questions such as this that is what i done when i first got started and i found many workers and customers will always open their mouth to help others in questions of what is what in gear and what hooks are popular for here and there lakes,creeks,e.t.c.
