casting to the spot?
I want to try a bit of spinning in a large lake , but again can not get my lure , plastic fish , rubber frog , and other lures out to the place i think the fish are , if I add weight to the swimming lure will it restrict its movement , then where to add the weight to cast it out , ? THAnks
I tempt to want to get my lure back to shore quickly when making a long cast, don't know if anyone else does this, but I do. I know the feeling you are getting, I get the same feeling, that you KNOW there is a fish out in that spot. Well, you can change lines, rods, reels, etc. and there still might not even be a fish out in that spot.
That's why us shore anglers are limited in our fishing spot capabilities. Boat owners get to go to any spot in the lake as they please.
Weight IS going to affect your lures swimming motion, it's going to make your top-waters sink, your swim-baits not swim so straight, your spinner-baits spinners not spin, and other stuff. The only lure that can be used with more weight and it's motion doesn't change is a soft plastic bait, such as a plastic worm or plastic lizard. These are plastic baits that are able to be Texas-rigged and fished slowly on the bottom.
If I needed to get the bait our their that bad, you could use a soft plastic with a big bullet weight, Texas-rigged. I think if I were you though, I would focus on other spots closer to shore and work on my accuracy skills.
