What serves as the mold and the cast in this experiment?
Materials Needed:
Hard objects such as shells, a paperclip, a coin, etc., plaster of paris (found at craft stores or Wal-Mart/K-Mart in the home repair section), water, container to mix ingredients (recommend a disposable pie tin or tin foil container), sturdy spoon, modeling clay, newspaper.
Procedure:
1. Spread out the newspaper.
2. Using your clay, push in the hard objects to make an impression in the clay.
3. Remove the objects and put them aside.
4. Mix some plaster of paris and water until the consistency is creamy not runny.
5. Pour the plaster of paris in the impression.
6. Wait 30 minutes or until hardened.
7. Remove the clay from the hardened plaster.
