Any suggestions for Trout fishing,?
My question this time is concerning trout angling, using bait rigs.
The trout season where I live started in about Mid-November, and since I live in the greater Phoenix area, all the fishing areas are stocked by the State DNR.
Anyway, I went fishing yesterday for about 5 hrs, tried various depths and locations around the pond, i was using night crawlers, power bait corn flavor, and I even tried using Salmon eggs to get a reaction, but got nothing.
Now Im looking into lures for trout, but Im not familiar with many of the models and makes out on the markets. Another angler was using a super duper, is this a reliable lure, or are there better ones out there.
Thanks
A chrome or gold-plated Acme Kastmaster has always worked extremely well for me. Casted out, and reeled back it. It doesn't matter what you use, though, hatchery trout will strike at ANYTHING.
To me personally, especially stocked hatchery trout, they are nothing more than forage to largemouth bass. In some cases, even bait (I'm not mentioning any names). I've seen the way big bass chase, hunt, and herd trout, and it's absolutely amazing. But, I swear... the next limit of trout I catch, all five are going in the blender... head, fins, tail, bones 'n' all... and I'm making a paste out of them to smear on big trout-lookin' swimbaits.
I'll admit I have caught trout in the past, but that's only because nothing else was wanting to hit. It was pretty fun, only 'cause I was using a twenty-four-inch rod and two-pound line. And my dad wanted some for dinner. So we both caught a limit.
