Chicken liver question!?
im going catfish fishing with the livers. where is the cheapeat place to get them? how much are they? what kind of hook should i use?(single, double, treble) size hook??? how to keep them on there?
I get tubs of livers that last me all day for a couple bucks at nearly all grocery stores. Walmart, Kroger, etc will have them.
I use size 3 or 5 circle hooks for catfishing. Treble hooks are good, but being a catch and release guy, I want to get the fish back into the water as quickly as possible. Treble hooks are a little difficult to get out of a catfish's mouth on many occasions.
Here are the hooks that I use for catfishing:

Chicken liver can be a little difficult to keep on the hook; although, you shouldn't have many issues making an initial cast. Liver isn't something that you want to constantly be reeling in and casting out, because it gets soft and soggy, which is what causes it to fall off of the hook. Layer it on the hook as many times as you can; normally, 3 or 4 times will be okay. Something that will help a lot if wrapping the liver onto the hook, AFTER you have layered it on. You can use panty hose or any kind of thread that you can get your hands on. After you have the liver layered on the hook, simply wrap it with whatever material that you have. This is almost necessary if you're the kind that likes to cast into new areas a lot.
