I have asthma along with others I know, and we all are allergic to fish. (Bluegills, Catfish, Trout, Bass, Crappie, etc). and when I get some of the slime from off the scales, I itch and swell up for hours.
Allergies are your body responding to a normal substance as if it was attacking you. If your body is confused enough to react to one substance that way, it is probably going to respond to several that way. Inuits, natives of Alaska who eat a lot of fish in their diet have no recorded instances of asthma or heart disease, something I have read about as I am genetically predisposed toward both. Have you tried an omega 3 fatty acid supplement? It might act as an allergy shot and limit your reaction to fish. My brother says that the omega 3 supplement has helped to decrease his asthma symptoms.
