I'm looking for a lure that people don't use often that produces well for a variety of species like LM/SM Bass, Pickerel/Pike, Walleye, variety of trout...what would you recommend as a lure that people don't throw out on the water everyday. I find these lures work the best in the areas that I fish that are heavily fished.
I tend to use beetle spins in colder water conditions. It's flashy and isn't a huge meal. So, I've often caught some nice size bass and walleye. Pike love spinerbaits, so I would think this time of year would produce the same. As far as warmer water, when I use them I generally catch smaller fish of the above fish. But, I catch a lot of BIG bluegill and crappie. One of the biggest advantages is being able to slow it down and change presentation. During the cold water months, you can slow your retrieve to a crawl, just temping them.
