Wacky Rig Bass






Wacky Rig Bass
bass fishing at this time of year?

i'm about to go fishing for bass in a little stocked pond. i'm wondering if now is not the right time to be wacky rigging soft plastic worms. it's 45 degrees out here in TN. any advice on what i should use will be appreciated.

i actually just went fishing early this morning with the weather windy rainy and about 50 degrees. my very first cast was with a bright orange crank bait and immediately pulled in a 15 inch bass. so in my opinion, i'm not the biggest user of soft plastics unless i'm fishing a drop shot and in that case i almost always wacky rig. however when fishing in colder waters i prefer crankbaits, minnow plugs, and slow rolling a spinner bait, but the key is to fish slow. fish will still surface to feed so always keep an eye on the water for shad on the surface. bright colors on a cloudy/rainy day, and something that is ultra reflective of the light on sunny days.

just a side note: i fish strictly from lake shores and small docks/piers in maryland. hope this helps
